Done Deal: Celtic Head Coach Brendan Rodgers Lands With Another Strong Star
Hearts and Hibs are back in preseason action as they get ready for the Scottish Premiership in 2024–2025. Hearts’ third-place performance previous season ensured them a spot in Europe, whereas Hibs’ eighth-place finish was disappointing.
The schedule for the upcoming campaign was released last month. On Saturday, August 3, Hearts will play Rangers at home, while Hibs will visit St. Mirren later in the same day. The Scottish Premiership sides are busy recruiting as the countdown approaches, and the EEN has compiled some of the most recent news from throughout the division.
The most recent team to apparently show interest in Celtic’s Matt O’Riley is Leicester City. The Scottish Sun claims that O’Riley has been singled out by new Foxes boss Steve Cooper as the ideal successor to their own high-profile departure, Kiernan Dewsbury Hall, who left the team for Chelsea at the end of June after agreeing to a £30 million deal.
Leicester has struggled financially even after being promoted to the Premier League, and they will likely lose points due to previous financial transgressions. They had to sell Dewsbury-Hall before the June 30 accounting deadline, but they can now try to replace him because of O’Riley’s offensive threat, which is very appealing to the King Power Stadium’s management. Several elite teams in Europe are keeping an eye on O’Riley after an incredible season in which he finished with 18 goals and 13 assists in 37 league games. The 23-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from Brighton, Southampton, and Atletico Madrid, with Celtic demanding a Scottish record fee of more than £25 million.
