Dallas Mavericks: Before the 2024 NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving Makes a Significant Disclosure About His Time With the Cavaliers

There’s a man on a mission in Kyrie Irving. Only four victories separate him and the Dallas Mavericks from repeating as NBA champs. The Mavericks haven’t won an NBA championship since 2011, but Irving and LeBron James brought the Cleveland Cavaliers’ historic and thrilling victory over the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals to their first rings.

Of course, Irving still remembers his time with the Cavs, especially their amazing playoff run in 2016. Irving, the Mavs’ gifted guard, remarked recently that playing with James during the postseason sharpened him (h/t Chicco Nacion of The Score).

Irving told reporters on Wednesday, “I just think back to just us having those moments where we’re down in a series or up in a series, and we’re really demanding greatness from each other. Definitely think about those times.” However, we can now reflect because we are in the present. However, at this point, I can also apply some of the formulas he taught me and those of the outstanding mentors who came before me.
